وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَصَابَكَ ۖ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ ٱلْأُمُورِ (لقمان – 17)

and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, all that is of the matters requiring determination.

(Japanese annotation)

In the course of life, painful things, large and small, are bound to happen.
To live a life with a positive path forward, you need to have courage and determination.
What happens to you is a God-given test for your growth.

(Japanese proverb of the same meaning)

“Buy what you need when you are young.”
It means that you should seek out hardships when you are young because they will train you and provide you with valuable experiences that will help you in the future. It also means that you can improve yourself by willingly doing things that other people find hard or uncomfortable.

To crush one’s heart and mind.
To give all one’s wisdom and all one’s strength to a task.

Hardship makes the best of you.
This is an analogy that a person can become a great person only after experiencing a lot of hardships.

Everyone will encounter difficulties in life. However, if we consider these difficulties as a gift given to us by God to help us accumulate our own virtues, they will become food for our minds as we overcome them.
