第一の聖地「メッカ」、第二の聖地「メディナ」、第三の聖地「エルサレム」
いずれも預言者ムハンマドに関連する場所となっています。
◆第一の聖地メッカ
預言者ムハンマドの生誕地であり、メッカはイスラム教最大の聖地です。
サウジアラビアにあるマッカ州にある州都がメッカで、イスラム教徒であるムスリムは1日5回決まった時間にメッカに向かって礼拝を行うのは有名です。
メッカへのハッジ（聖地巡礼）は体力と財力が許す限りあらゆるムスリムが一生に一度は果たすべき義務とイスラム教の聖典であるコーラン（第3章97節）に記されています。
メッカ巡礼はイスラム教の信仰の基礎となる六信五行の1つです。
そのため、イスラーム暦の12月（ズー・アル＝ヒッジャ）8〜10日は世界中から聖地への巡礼が毎年300万人以上も訪れるため、聖地には巡礼者が絶えません。
聖地の中でも、マスジド・ハラームはムスリムにとって地上で最も神聖な場所として信仰されており、ムスリム（イスラム教徒）以外の立ち入りは禁止されています。
メッカのモスクの中心には石造りの立方体の神殿「カーバ神殿」があります。ムスリムはカーバ神殿の方向に向かって礼拝をします。この方向の事を「キブラ」といいます。
クルアーンの中で、カーバ神殿に巡礼することを以下のように記しています。
“この聖殿に巡礼することは、人間としてAllahに対する神聖な義務である”
◆第二の聖地メディナ
メディナは預言者ムハンマドの埋葬されている地であり、イスラム教第二の聖地です。
サウジアラビア（アラビア半島）のマディーナ州にある州都がメディナです。
メッカと並んでメディナはイスラム教二大聖域と呼ばれ、メッカを訪れる巡礼者はメディナも訪れるのが通例です。
メッカ同様ムスリム（イスラム教徒）以外の入場はできません。異教徒が侵入した場合、厳しい罰則が与えられます。
◆第三の聖地「エルサレム」
預言者ムハンマドは当初メッカではなく、エルサレムに礼拝していたとされ、また、天使ガブリエルにこの地に連れてこられ、メッカの神殿からエルサレムの神殿に一夜のうちに昇天するという奇跡の旅を体験した場所とされているため、エルサレムはイスラム教の第三の聖地とされています。
“大天使ジブリール（ガブリエル）に伴われエルサレムの神殿上の岩から天馬ブラークに乗って昇天し、神アッラーフの御前に至った”
その場所には岩のドーム（神殿の丘）が建設され、聖地の1つとされています。
エルサレムはスラエルとパレスチナ自治区にある都市です。
エルサレムは、世界的な聖地でユダヤ教、キリスト教、イスラム教にとっての共通した聖地とされており、国際的な宗教都市として有名です。
◆ First sacred place Mecca
Birthplace of Prophet Muhammad, Mecca is the holiest city in Islam.
Mecca is the capital of Makkah State in Saudi Arabia, and Muslims are famous for praying toward Mecca at a fixed time five times a day.
The Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) is a duty that every Muslim should perform at least once in his or her lifetime, as long as his physical strength and financial resources allow it, and is enshrined in the holy book of Islam, the Koran (3:97).
The pilgrimage to Mecca is one of the Six Faiths that form the basis of Islamic faith.
For this reason, more than 3 million people from all over the world make pilgrimages to the Holy Land every year from the 8th to the 10th of December (Zu al-Hijjah) in the Islamic calendar, so there is no end to the number of pilgrims.
Among the holy sites, Masjid al-Haram is believed to be the most sacred place on earth for Muslims, and non-Muslims are prohibited from entering.
At the center of the Mecca mosque is a stone cubical temple called the Kaaba. Muslims pray in the direction of the Kaaba. This direction is called Qibla.
In the Qur’an, pilgrimage to the Kaaba is described as follows:
“To make a pilgrimage to this shrine is a sacred duty as a human being to Allah.”
◆ The Second Holy Land, Medina
Medina is the burial place of Prophet Muhammad and the second holiest city in Islam.
Medina is the capital of the state of Medina in Saudi Arabia (Arabian Peninsula).
Along with Mecca, Medina is known as one of the two sanctuaries of Islam, and it is customary for pilgrims who visit Mecca to visit Medina as well.
As in Mecca, non-Muslims are not allowed to enter. Intrusions by infidels will result in severe penalties.
The Third Holy Land “Jerusalem”
Prophet Muhammad was originally worshiped in Jerusalem, not Mecca, and was brought to this land by the angel Gabriel, and experienced a miraculous journey from the temple in Mecca to the temple in Jerusalem in one night. Because of its location, Jerusalem is considered the third holiest city in Islam.
“Accompanied by the Archangel Jibril (Gabriel), ascended from the rock above the temple in Jerusalem on the winged horse Brahk to the presence of Allah.”
The Dome of the Rock (Temple Mount) was built there and is considered one of the sacred sites.
Jerusalem is a city in Israel and the Palestinian Territories.
Jerusalem is a world-famous holy city and a common holy place for Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and is famous as an international religious city.
