偶像崇拝とは、神仏を人間の手で、絵画・彫刻などの可視的対象物として造り、信仰の対象として崇拝・礼拝することです。
それは神の被造物に過ぎないものを、神として崇めることになります。
偶像は人間の理想を形にしたもの、つまり人間による自己崇拝とみなされます。
イスラム教では人間をはじめとするすべての万物はAllahの創造物です。
Allahの創造物である人間が、Allahを創造することは許されません。
Allahが万物をつくった存在であるのにもかかわらず、Allahの被造物の１つにすぎない像を崇めることは、Allahに対する瀆神行為と考えられているのです。
祈りはアッラーだけのみ捧げられるべきもので、他のものに対しても祈りを捧げれば「それはアッラーと同格のもの」と認めることになってしまうのです。
“Allahは他のいかなるものとも並べられることはお許しにならない”（4:51）
“されば偶像の類を、それと知りつつAllahと同等に崇めてはいけない”（2:22）
モスクの中には偶像の類のものは一切ありません。ミフラーブというメッカの方向を示す壁の装飾があり、ムスリムはミフラーブを指標とし、メッカの方向に向かってお祈りをするのです。
偶像崇拝が禁じられたため、植物文様や幾何学文様、アラビア文字を使用 した装飾が発達しました。イスラーム美術としてアラベスク模様とクルアーンを美しい書体で書き表したものが尊ばれました。
「アラベスク」とは、「アラビア風の」という意味です。
独特な外観のモスクや美しいタイル装飾は、イスラーム美術によって生み出され、長い時間をかけて地域を超えて発展してきました。
Idolatry is the act of making gods and buddhas into visible objects such as paintings and sculptures by human hands, and worshiping and worshiping them as objects of faith.
It amounts to worshiping as a god something that is nothing more than a creation of God.
Idols are seen as the embodiment of human ideals, i.e. self-worship by humans.
In Islam, all things, including humans, are creations of Allah.
Humans, the creations of Allah, are not allowed to create Allah.
Even though Allah is the creator of all things, worshiping an image that is only one of Allah’s creatures is considered an act of depravity towards Allah.
Prayers should be offered only to Allah, and if we offer prayers to others as well, we end up acknowledging that they are equal to Allah.
“Allah shall not be allowed to be placed with anything else” (4:51)
“Therefore, do not knowingly worship idols on a par with Allah” (2:22).
There are no idols of any kind in the mosque. There is a wall decoration called a mihrab that indicates the direction of Mecca, and Muslims use the mihrab as a guide and pray in the direction of Mecca.
Since idolatry was prohibited, ornamentation using plant patterns, geometric patterns and Arabic letters developed. As Islamic art, arabesque patterns and the Qur’an written in beautiful calligraphy were highly prized.
“Arabesque” means “Arabic”.
Mosques with unique appearances and beautiful tile decorations were created by Islamic art and developed over a long period of time across regions.
