ハヤー（haya）
人間の叡智が及ばないものの存在を意識する謙虚さ
「アッラーは寛容な者の尊厳を高め、また謙虚な者を引き上げたもう」
謙虚さは２つに分類することができます。
- 信仰からくる謙虚
- 本能的羞恥心
１は人間の叡智が及ばないものの存在を意識する謙虚さ、イスラムの信仰に不可欠なものです
２人が恥ずかしいことや無作法なことをするのを妨げるもの
この2つのhayaを合わせもった人こそ、恥ずべき行為や無作法な行為をすることない、慎み深い敬虔なMuslimといえます。
どちらか一方ずつでは、その謙虚さは不足しているか、完全に失われて傲慢な人になってしまうかもしれません。
『かれは、アッラーが見ておられることを知らないのか。（聖クルアーン96：14）』のよう『本当にアッラーはあなたがたを絶えず見守られる。（4：1）』
Allahは常に私達をみておられます。
常に自分の行為をAllahに見られているという信仰心からくる自分を律する意識と、人に見られて恥ずかしい行為は出来ないという羞恥の意識が合わさることで、hayaを継続することができるのです。
預言者ムハンマドは、教友が謙虚さについて他の者にアドバイスしているのを聞き
「やめなさい。謙虚さはその人の真の信仰心から来るのだから。」と言われました。
「アッラーは、あなた方は謙虚であるべきであり、お互いに間違ったことをしてはならないと命じている」
日本には
「実ほど首を垂れる稲穂かな」ということわざがあります。
中身の詰まっていない稲はピンと立ち、中身が熟した稲ほど実が詰まって、その重みで頭が下がる様子から、
「知識や徳を積んだ人ほど謙虚な人間になる」という意味です。
イスラムの教える「haya」と日本の道徳・ことわざには多くの共通点が見られます。
Haya
Humility to notice the existence of something beyond human wisdom.
Allah exalts the dignity of the forgiving and exalts the humble.
Humility can be divided into two categories.
1. The humility that comes from faith
2. Instinctive shame.
1 is the humility of acknowledging the existence of something beyond human wisdom, which is essential to the Islamic faith.
2. Anything that prevents you from doing something embarrassing or rude.
Having both hayas, this person is a humble and devout Muslim, free from shameful or disrespectful behavior.
If you lack either, you may lack that humility or lose it altogether and become arrogant.
“Didn’t he know that Allah sees?” (Quran 96:14)).
“Surely Allah watches over you constantly. (4:1)”
Allah always sees us.
A combination of a sense of self-discipline, which comes from the belief that Allah is always watching over our actions, and a sense of embarrassment from being seen by others, allows us to perform haya.
When the Prophet Muhammad heard his Companions admonishing others about modesty, he said:
“Stop, humility comes from one’s true faith.”
“Allah commands that you should be humble and do not do wrong to each other.”
In Japan.
There is a saying, “The riper the rice, the more it droops.”
Empty rice stands upright; ripe rice bears fruit and its weight causes its head to droop.
This means, “The more one accumulates knowledge and virtue, the more humble one becomes.”
There are many similarities between the Islamic teaching of haya and Japanese morals and proverbs.
