イスラム教徒同士が出会ったとき、場所や時間に関係なく、次のような挨拶の言葉をかけます。
Assalaamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh
[アッサラームアライクム ワ ラフマットッラーヒ ワ バラカートゥ]
この挨拶をうけた方は、次のように挨拶を返します。
Wa’alaikum salam warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh
[ワライクム サラーム ワラフマットッラーヒ ワ バラカートゥ]
この挨拶は互いに相手の【平安と安寧を願う】言葉であり、日本語の「こんにちは」や英語の「Hello」とは意味合いが違います。
この挨拶を互いに沢山交わすことは【善行】とされています。
顔見知りの方々はもちろん、初対面の人、年齢に関係なく、皆でこの挨拶を交わしあうことが重要と考えられています。
When Muslims meet each other, regardless of place or time, they say the following greetings:
